Adelphi Women Lose to Bryant College In ECAC Tournament, 86-76

Philadelphia, Penn. - The Adelphi women's basketball team suffered a tough 86-76 loss to Bryant College in the first round of the ECAC Tournament at Philadelphia University this afternoon. The No.3 seeded Panthers finish their season 18-11 overall, while the No. 2 seed Bryant College improves to 19-11.

Sophomore Jesse Dlabola led a balanced Panther squad with 25 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from three-point range. Freshman Carlyshia Hurdle added 12 points. Junior Jaime Douglas and sophomore Meranne Whitney each had 11 points, with Douglas pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Adelphi shot 47.2 percent in the first half, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, to hold a 43-36 lead. In the second half, the Panthers dropped to 33 percent from the field, while Lady Bulldogs shot a sizzling 60 percent. They would outscore Adelphi, 50-33 in the second half to take the win.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Mary McConnell and Dede Fogarty with 18 points apiece. Bryant advances to tomorrow's ECAC Championships game facing the winner of the Philadelphia/St. Michael's contest at 2 p.m.
