Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi scored two early goals and held on to top visiting New Haven 3-0. With the win Adelphi extends their win streak to 15 games and improves to 15-1-1 overall and 10-0 in the NYCAC, while New Haven drops to 6-8-3 overall and 5-4-1 in NYCAC play. Andrea Fasano picked up the victory for Adelphi and her 12th shutout of the season.

Adelphi opened the scoring just 11 minutes in when Marissa Cotilletta collected a ball from a New Haven defender and slipped it past an out of position Maureen MacConnell. Just 44 seconds later Monica Miller collected a MacConnell clear and sent a ball to Josephine Coiro. Coiro put the ball in the back of the goal to give the Panthers a 2-0 cushion.

In the 30th minute Coiro pushed the ball up the right flank and played a ball into Cotilletta. Cotilletta flicked the ball to a streaking Monica Miller who struck a shot that beat MacConnell to put Adelphi up 3-0. Andrea Fasano was tested midway through the first half when Crystal Lindsey and Hillary Horn both went after a ball in Adelphi's box. Horn was whistled for a foul, giving New Haven a penalty Kick. Lindsey took the kick and sent the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal, a diving Fasano made the stop to preserve the shut out.

The second half got very physical with a total of six cards thrown. But Adelphi was able to hold off New Haven and come away with a 3-0 win. MacConnell collected four saves, while Fasano recorded five.

Adelphi returns to action Tuesday, November 4th when they play host to C.W. Post at 2:30 pm.
