Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi dropped a hard fought match to NYIT by a score of 3-1. With the win NYIT improves to 13-5 overall and 4-2 in NYCAC play. The Panthers fall to 4-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Adelphi is currently in eighth place in the NYCAC standing while NYIT sits in sixth.

Adelphi opened the game on a tear, taking six straight points off of Julie Roke's serves during a stretch in the opening game. NYIT played tough but the Panthers took the first game 30-28. NYIT came out strong in the second game reeling off eight straight points while Burcu Hakyemez was serving to give the Lady bears a seven point cushion that Adelphi could not overcome. NYIT won the second game 30-14 to even the match at one game apiece.

The Panthers kept the third game close, but NYIT won 18 points on their own serves compared to nine for the Panthers. The Lady Bears took the third game 30-22. Going into the fourth game NYIT had all the momentum and it showed as the Lady Bears took the fourth and final game 30-10. Adelphi went down 8-2 at the beginning of the game and was never able to recover.

The Panthers return to action Tuesday, October 14th when they play host to Molloy at 6 pm in a NYCAC match-up.
