Bridgeport, Conn. -
The fifth-ranked Adelphi Panthers traveled to Bridgeport in a three-way tie for first place in the NYCAC with Bridgeport, Queens, and Southampton. Adelphi left Bridgeport tied with one less team as the Panthers topped the Purple Knights, 2-0, snapping a five game win streak, and improving their own to eight straight.
Dina Cali scored just 2:50 into action off an assist from Lena Dunning. Cali's goal was her second in three games since returning from an early season injury. Following the goal the two teams battled back and forth for the next 85 minutes. Neither team was able to gain an advantage. Adelphi kept the pressure on forcing Bridgeport freshman goalie Tove Wathen to make seven saves.
In the 88th minute of play Luciana Pace finally broke through and slipped one past Wathen for the insurance goal. Andrea Fasano picked up her sixth shutout win of the season in net for the Panthers. With the win Adelphi improves to 8-1-1 overall and 4-0 in NYCAC play.
Adelphi returns to action Saturday October 11, when they travel to Philadelphia University for a noon NYCAC match-up with the Rams.
