Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's soccer team defeated Concordia College, 10-0, Saturday afternoon in conference play at Stiles Field. With the win, the No. 6 ranked Panthers improve to 7-1-1 overall and 3-0 in the NYCAC. The Clippers drop to 1-6, 0-3 in the NYCAC.

In a lopsided game which saw the Panthers dominate the Clippers 17-0 on shot attempts, junior Josephine Coiro (West Babylon, N.Y.) led a total of nine Adelphi scorers, collecting two goals in the win.

Senior Domonique Riccardo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the fifth minute of play on a cross from junior Josefa Pace (Bellmore, N.Y.). Next to score was junior Dina Cali (Valley Stream, N.Y.), her first of goal of the season, at 13:27 on an assist from senior Monica Miller (Albuquerque, NM). Several minutes later, Coiro scored back-to-back goals to give Adelphi a 4-0 advantage. The Panthers rattled off three more goals before the first half, including freshman Michelle Giovanniello (Nesconset, N.Y.), who notched her first career goal in the 32nd minute.

The Clippers continued to struggle in the second half and were unable to convert any possessions into shot attempts. The final goal of the contest came on a 20-yard lob by sophomore Mary Cannata, her first goal of the season, in the 72nd minute on an assist from junior Jessica Montgomery (Lynbrook, N.Y.).

Concordia's Jill Martin had 10 saves, while senior Andrea Fasano (Syosset, N.Y.) and sophomore Sara Giaimo (North Bellmore, N.Y.) combined for the Adelphi shutout.

Adelphi begins a three-game conference road trip, with its first stop at the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday, October 7. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
