Adelphi Women Top Bridgeport, 75-62

Bridgeport, Conn. - Sophomore Jesse Dlabola collected 13 points and a career-best 13 rebounds along with six steals to lead a balanced Adelphi attack to a 75-62 victory over Bridgeport on Thursday evening. The Panthers improve to 9-7 overall and 8-5 in the NYCAC. The Purple Knights drop to 2-14; 1-12 in the NYCAC.

A total of four players scored in double figures, including sophomore Melanie Mangone's game-high 14 points. Junior Jaime Douglas notched her third consecutive double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Carlyshia Hurdle added 12 points, while pulling down eight rebounds.

Adelphi trailed by seven points early on as Bridgeport opened the game on a 10-3 run. Junior Kerri Kirschbaum hit a three-pointer, one of two field goals on the night, at 11:42 to close to within two points. The Purple Knights fought back, regaining a seven point lead. A Dlabola jumper spurred a 7-0 Panther run, with Mangone hitting the three and the follow up lay-up to give Adelphi its first lead, 21-19, with seven minutes remaining. The Panther defense held the Purple Knights to just four points in the final nine minutes of the first half, as Adelphi finished on a 17-4 run.

The Panthers continued its strong play into the second half, realizing its largest lead of 22 points, 51-29, with 13:50 on the clock. Adelphi maintained a comfortable lead throughout, winning the game, 75-62.

Adelphi returns to the comforts of Woodruff Hall on Tuesday, January 28, hosting C.W. Post. Tip off is at 7:00 p.m.
