Adelphi Men's Soccer Edged By Manhattan College, 3-2

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Men's soccer team dropped its season home opener against Manhattan College, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers remain winless this season with a 0-3-0 overall record. The Jaspers improve to 1-3-0.

Manhattan College took an early lead, scoring back to back goals. Mike Walsh scored the first goal on a header in the 22nd minute. Just over three minutes later, teammate Jonathan Rowe picked up the second goal on an assist from Walsh.. Sophomore Jorrell Best picked up his first goal of the season on a pass from senior Anders Salomonnson to put Adelphi on the board at 32:41. Sophomore Tal Sheinfeld would tie the score, 2-2, on an assist from junior Dean Marinello.

The score remained tied into the second half until Manhattan's Walter Kotchin scored the game-winner at 63:36. Adelphi played the last 10:00 minutes of the game down two players lost due to red card violations.

Senior Igor Yatsenko had seven saves and Michael Sheehan had three saves for the Jaspers.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, September 11, traveling to St. John's University. Game time is slated for 8:00 p.m.
