The Adelphi University volleyball team won their season home-opener, 3-1, over Nyack College Thursday night at Woodruff Hall. The Panthers improve to 5-1 on the season, while the Purple Pride drops to 1-1.
Senior Amber Butler led balanced Adelphi attack with nine kills. Freshman Jessica Haynes tallied six kills, two digs and team-high five service aces. Senior Jenna Sweeney racked up five block solos along with six kills in the match.
Adelphi took game one 30-16, before dropping game two 23-30. The Panther rallied back to take games three (30-20) and four (30-22) to win the contest.
Adelphi improves its record to 5-1 against Nyack College.
The Panthers return to action next weekend, September 13-14, traveling to Pennsylvania for the Kutztown Invitational.
