Sophomore Josephine Coiro scored three goals to lead the Adelphi University women's soccer team to a 5-0 conference shutout over NYIT, Wednesday afternoon at Stiles Field. Marissa Cotilletta and Jaime Parrella scored one goal apiece for the Panthers. Adelphi University improves to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the NYCAC. NYIT falls to 0-2-2 and 0-1 in the conference.
Sophomore Josephine Coiro scored Adelphi's first goal on an assist from Domonique Riccardo in the 27th minute of the game. Nearly three minutes later Marissa Cotilletta scored to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Josephine Coiro scored her second goal on a penalty kick to give Adelphi a 3-0 lead going into the half.
In the second half Josephine Coiro scored a goal on a follow-up to give Adelphi a 4-0 advantage. The Adelphi offense out-shot NYIT, 24-5. Jaime Parrella put the game away in the 67th minute to give the Panthers the final, 5-0.
