Men's Soccer Shut Out by Syracuse, 1-0

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Adelphi Men's Soccer team remains winless, after dropping a 1-0 decision to the Syracuse Orangemen, Saturday afternoon.It was the Orangemen's third consecutive win, improving their record to 3-2 on the season. Adelphi is now 0-5.

The lone goal of the game came at the 59:24 mark when senior Guido Cristofori picked up the rebound off a shot by junior Kirk Johnson. It was the fourth straight game in which Cristofori has scored at least one point. He now has three goals and one assist for the season. It was Johnson's second assist of the season, and the third consecutive game in which he has gotten into the scoring column.

Freshman goalkeeper Alim Karim earned his second consecutive shutout without having to make a save. The Orangemen defense allowed Adelphi only seven shots, none of them on goal.

Syracuse outshot the Panthers, 24-7, and held and 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior Igor Yatsenko was the losing goalkeeper for the Panthers. He made nine saves in the game.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, facing Stony Brook at 7:00 p.m.
