Adelphi Women Surge Past Merrimack, 2-1, In Overtime

North Easton, Mass. - Jennifer Garone captured the game-wining goal just 1:03 into overtime to lead the Adelphi University women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Merrimack, Sunday afternoon at the Stonehill Tournament. The Panthers advance to 2-0 on the season.

The Warriors jumped out to an early lead, as Mary Blais scored at 25:48 in the first half.

Lena Dunning tied the score at 60:06 in the second half on a loose ball six yards outside the box. Both teams would remain scoreless for the remainder of the game, sending the contest into overtime.

In overtime, Garone clinched the Panther win on an unassisted goal at 91:03.

Goalkeeper Andrea Fasano picked up 12 saves, while Merrimack's Alana Bowley had six.

Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, September 8, hosting East Stroudsberg in their season home-opener at 1:00 p.m. at Stiles Field.
