Women's Basketball Downs Concordia, 88-58

Bronxville, NY - Sophomore guard Melanie Mangone poured in 20 of her career-high 24 points in the first half , to lead the No. 19 ranked Adelphi University women's basketball team to a 88-58 victory over Concordia College, Saturday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the NYCAC. The Clippers fall to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the NYCAC.

Junior Jamie Douglas picked up her third double-double in four games with 23 points along with 11 rebounds. Sophomore Jesse Dlabola also scored in double figures with 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals.

Adelphi never trailed although both teams got off to a slow start, with the score stalled, 3-2, at the 14:27 mark. Spurred by Mangone and Dlabola, who combined for five three-pointers in the half, the Panthers opened up a 47-32 half-time lead.

Adelphi continued to dominate the second half as Douglas led all players with 12 points and six rebounds. The Panthers outscored the Clippers 41-26 in the second half.

On the game, Adelphi shot 46.1 percent from the field to the Clippers 39.6 percent.

The Clippers were led by freshman Pam Karagiorgios with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Katie Reynolds added 12 points.

Next up, Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, December 10, hosting NYIT at 5:30 p.m.
