Sophomore Jesse Dlabola's career-high 24 points were not enough to help the Adelphi women's basketball team past host Stonehill College on the second day of the Stonehill Christmas Classic. The Panthers suffered its second loss in as many days, 73-64, at the hands of the Chieftans. Adelphi drops to 4-4 overall, while Stonehill wins its fifth straight to improve to 8-1.
Junior Jaime Douglas pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, along with eight points for the Panthers.
Stonehill led by as many as 12 points in the opening half of action before settling for a 32-24 lead at the break, and the Chieftains built their advantage to as much as 14 points in the final 20 minutes of play, as the visiting Panthers (4-4) got no closer than six points in the second half.
Tournament Most Outstanding Player Kristen McDonnell (West Roxbury, Mass.) scored a career-high 31 points, including 20 in the first half alone, to lead the Stonehill
The Chieftains outrebounded the Panthers by a 45-34 margin for the contest in collecting their seventh win without a loss in the series between the schools.
Adelphi returns to conference action next Saturday, January 4, 2003, traveling to Philadelphia University.
