Women's Soccer Deadlocks With Philadelphia

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's soccer team reached a stalemate with conference rival Philadelphia University, 0-0, in double overtime, Saturday afternoon at Stiles Field. This is the second time in as many games the Panthers have ended in a draw. On the season, Adelphi is 10-0-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the NYCAC. The Rams stand at 7-2-4, 3-1-1 in the NYCAC.

Both teams were tested on the rain-soaked field. Adelphi had several key opportunities, including a shot by sophomore defender Josefa Pace (Lynbrook, N.Y.) in the first overtime from 30-yards out on a pass from junior Jennifer Garone (West Hempstead) which hit the top of the crossbar.

On the contest, the Rams outshot the Panthers, 17-13. Adelphi had more corner kick opportunities, 9-3.

Junior Andrea Fasano (Syosset, N.Y.) collected nine saves for Adelphi. Philadelphia's Stephanie Martin (Philadelphia, Pa.) had seven saves.

Next up, Adelphi returns to action next Saturday, facing Lock Haven on the road.
