Senior Jenna Sweeney registered a team-high 13 kills along with five blocks to lead the Adelphi University volleyball team to a 30-24, 30-24, 30-20 conference victory over Philadelphia University. The Panthers improve to 15-11 overall and 3-3 in the NYCAC. The Rams drop to 11-11 on the season and 3-3 in the conference.
A total of three Adelphi players scored in double digit kills. Senior Mary Krines collected 11 kills and five digs. Senior Bernadette Mearini notched 10 kills and was the team's leading dig-getter with nine. Senior Brianne MacArthur grabbed 36 assists in the contest.
With 15 wins this season, the Panthers have tied the school record for most wins in a season. The 1999 squad finished the season, 15-22.
Adelphi will rest up this weekend before traveling to NYIT on Monday, October 14. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. Philadelphia continues its road trip, traveling to Bridgeport for a Saturday afternoon match-up.
