Breanne Nasti was named the eighth head coach in the history of the Adelphi University softball team on Aug. 16, 2012, and enters her sixth season at the helm in 2018.
Under her direction, the Panthers have evolved into a regional and national powerhouse, reaching several milestones in the program’s Division II history. Nasti’s Panthers have won two Northeast-10 Championships (2013, 2017), have qualified for the NCAA Tournament in all five seasons, and won a pair of NCAA East Region titles.
In her third season at Adelphi in 2015, Nasti led the Panthers to a historic season in the program’s Division II history. Finishing with a 31-22 overall record, the Panthers won both the NCAA Division II East 2 Regional and the East Super Regional, which earned them a College World Series berth -- the squad’s first as a Division II program.
Nasti led the Panthers back to the national stage in 2016, as Adelphi was again crowned East Region champions, this time on home field, after the team defeated Pace and Molloy in regional play before again taking down SNHU in the Super Regional to return to the College World Series at the Division II Festival in Denver, Colo.Â
Prior to coming to Adelphi, Nasti spent four years at Stony Brook University as a hitting instructor and outfield coach, and also previously worked as an assistant coach with both the St. John’s Red Storm and the Hofstra Pride.
A 2004 graduate of SUNY Buffalo with a degree in psychology, Nasti was a four-year letter-winner, a three-time All-Region honoree as well as a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection. Nasti left Buffalo as the all-time leader in average (.387), home runs (27), RBI (113), hits (197), doubles (46), triples (7), runs (93) and walks (66). In 2002, she set the UB and MAC single season record with a .451 batting average. Nasti also performed well in the classroom, earning Academic All-District I from 2002-2004, Academic All-MAC in 2003 and the SUNY Chancellor's Award in 2004. She was also a three-time UB Scholar-Athlete.
A native of Baldwin, N.Y., Nasti earned her master's degree from Fresno State and was a three-time high school All-American. She holds the single season national high school record with a .774 batting average.
