Sophomore middle blocker, Kaitlyn DeStefano was named an honorable mention All-America selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) last week. .She becomes the first player in the 20 year history of the program to earn All-America status.
DeStefano, a first team All-NE-10 selection and a first-team all-region honoree, set a single season mark in blocks this fall with 185 and is fourth on the career list with 289 total blocks, just 54 blocks out of first. She also led the Panthers with 376 kills, averaging 2.71 per set.
In addition DeStefano led the Northeast-10 in solo blocks (50), total blocks (185) and blocks per set with an average of 1.33. She is also tops in the conference in blocks assists with 135 from her position as a middle blocker and fourth in hitting percentage (.297) and fifth in total kills with 376.
DeStefano's All-America selection is the first in program history and the culmination of a run that started in 2008 with the programs first AVCA All-Region selection.
