Garden City, N.Y. - Joe Vitale, a senior on the men's lacrosse team has been named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week in the conference's first weekly report as announced yesterday. This is the first award for the Lynbrook, N.Y. native.

Vitale, in the team's first and only game of the season so far, tallied 10 points on three goals and seven assists. Additionally, he scooped up three ground balls as the #2 Panthers defeated first year program, Saint Rose 14-9 in front of the home crowd on Motamed Field last week.

Vitale is a 2011 NE-10 First Team All-Conference performer and a USILA First Team All-American. Additionally, he was named to the prestigious Tewaarton Award watch list for this year. During last season, Vitale led the team with 70 points with 40 goals and 30 assists.

The Panther return to action on Friday, March 9 when they take on Notre Dame de Namur at 4 pm (CST) in St. Louis, Missouri as part of a three game spring trip.
