Adelphi Celebrates Nursing Majors as Semester Comes to a Close

On Thursday, May 18, Adelphi University recognized and honored its nursing grads (or soon to be graduates) at its annual Pinning Ceremony inside the Center for Recreation and Sports. National Nurses Day/Week is held in the month of May and we caught up with some of our student-athlete nursing majors to hear why they chose to pursue a career in this profession.

“I chose to pursue nursing because it allows me the opportunity to help people when they are at their most vulnerable and allows me to make a real difference in their lives.”

Lily Miller, Women's Lacrosse

I want to become a nurse because I believe your health is truly the most important priority. I want to help people regain their health even through the toughest times."

I chose to pursue nursing as a career because you impact the lives of others every day. You interact with people on the worst days of their lives and have the opportunity to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. It is rewarding to know that you made a difference in someone’s life!
Izzy Grant, Women's Lacrosse
Gina Guerrier

“I decided to pursue a career in nursing because nothing is more rewarding than helping others. I love speaking to patients and being a helping hand when they are in such a vulnerable state. Putting a smile on a patient's face or seeing them make a turn for the better will never get old.”

Roodginia Guerrier, Women's Track and Field

“I chose nursing because I was inspired by mother who has been a nurse for over 25 years. I also chose nursing because I really enjoy the healthcare field, helping people, and working with a team to achieve a common goal!”

Faith Camilleri, Softball

David Sanzone
