Joplin, MO - In temperatures similar to the northeast, Katherine and Isabel Marsh represented Adelphi University on Saturday at the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Joplin, Missouri. 

The twin sisters, who went one-two at both the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and East Region races earned individual spots as a result, with K. Marsh making her second consecutive trip to the event. 

This year, K. Marsh bettered her time from a season ago, dropping nearly one whole minute and finishing 155th out of 260 competitors. Her time of 22:07.2 saw her average 5:56 per mile and was the third finisher out of the East Region, behind NE10 athletes from Saint Michael's and Southern Connecticut. 

Crossing the finish line a few seconds behind her sister was I. Marsh, who clocked in at 22:12.5 with an average mile time of 5:57.4 to place 168th overall. She also landed in the top-five of finishers out of the East, behind Brianna Grecco of SCSU for her first trip to the big dance. 

The twins will return to campus and begin preparing for the indoor track season, slated to start on Friday, Dec. 1 at the Ocean Breeze complex. Both earned a spot in the 2023 Indoor Championship to race in the 800m and look to make a push to repeat and attend the 2024 Indoor event hosted by Pitt State in Kansas.
