Mansfield, Mass. - The 2022 Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships are slated to begin Thursday, Feb. 24 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. as the league office revealed the pre-championship polls on Wednesday.
The Adelphi men were projected to finish seventh as the women were slotted sixth, tied with New Haven. For the full poll results, see below.
The men received a total of 39 points from coaches around the league, which is an improvement from the 29 points they received ahead of the 2020 Championships.
Christopher Holt was a top performer for the Panthers during the 2021-22 season. Having the fastest time on the team in the 60-meters and 200-meters with times of 7.20 and 22.75 respectively. Diego Llanos put up strong performances this season recording team highs in four separate events. The -technically - freshman in the indoor season recorded a 1:58.58 800-meter time, a 4:20.26 mile time, a 8:56.54 3000-metes time, while also posting a time of 15:08.38 in the 5000-meter event.
The women fall three points short of their 2020 projected finish, even though they concluded with a sixth place finish almost two years ago.
Gabrielle Buissereth earned two golds in the 400-meter dash in her last championship outing with a PR and NCAA provisional time of 56.21, and the 200-meter dash, clocking in for another PR at 25.14, for her first career individual titles. She also helped the 4x400 relay team to repeat as champions in 3:55.23. Her efforts led to a combined 22.5 points for the team and earned her the first-ever Most Valuable Female Athlete of the Meet Award, as well as Track Athlete of the Meet.
The 2022 NE10 Championships take place Feb. 24-25 in the Reggie Lewis Center, located at Roxbury Community College. Spectators will be allowed to attend the event, though every spectator must remain masked while inside the venue.
The weekend begins with Pentathlon and Heptathlon events on Thursday (Feb. 24) morning. Field events begin at 12 p.m. while track events start at 12:30 p.m. For a complete schedule along with heat sheets and links to live video and results, visit the championship page.
