Both Cross Country Teams Claim Seventh At NE-10 Championship Meet

Easton, Mass. - With the championship portion of the Adelphi University cross country scheduled beginning this weekend, both the men and women competed to seventh place finishes earlier today at Stonehill College during the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

Michael Grady posted the best finish for the Brown and Gold on either side, racing to a 26:07.6 finish for 21st place on the 8k course. His older brother, Sean Grady, finished in the next place of 22nd behind a clocking of 26:11.3 as the Grady brothers recorded pace time of 5:16 and 5:17 respectively. Jose Velasquez also turned in a top-30 performance, landing in 26th place by crossing the finish line in 26:18.6

The next three runners placed within the top-50 for the Panthers, led by a 36th place finish for Branden Warders as the sophomore registered a time of 26:42.9. A 26:58.9 clocking by Anthony Coccia landed him in 42nd while Michael Scott raced to 45th behind a 27:02.8 time.

Freshman Nicole Julian led the women's effort, claimed 33rd on the 6k course with a pace of 6:27 to finish in 24:02.3. Brianna Delzell was next to place for the Panthers, touching in at 24:24.7 for 44th. Senior Nicole Elarde rounded out the top-three Adelphi finishers by notching 52nd place at 24:36.1

American International earned the men's crown as Leakey Kipkosgei led the field with a 24:35.4 time, a 4:57 pace on the course. Meanwhile, the host Skyhawks won their eighth straight and 15th overall women's championship led by a first place time of 21:26.2 from Nicole Borofski, a pace of 5:45.

The program returns to competition at the NCAA East Regional Championship on Sunday, November 6. The meet is scheduled to be hosted by Franklin Pierce in Rindge, NH with the men's 10k scheduled for 11:00 am followed by the women's 6k at 12:15 pm.

The Panthers finished in third place on each side of the East Regional Preview meet on Saturday, September 27.
