Men's Soccer Falls to #21 Lehigh

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's soccer team played host to #21 Lehigh University on Wednesday, October 11 on Stiles Field. The Panthers gave up and early goal and could not recover, falling 2-0 to the Mountain Hawks. With the loss Adelphi falls to 7-5 on the season, while Lehigh improves to 10-1-1.

Lehigh got on the board in the 15th minute when Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) came off his line to challenge Jim Taranto, who slipped the ball past Hurley, giving the Mountain Hawks a 1-0 edge. Lehigh put the game out of reach in the 83rd minute when Robert Quinlan struck a ball from 30 yards out that found the back of the Adelphi goal, giving the Mountain Hawks their final margin of victory, 2-0.

The Panthers played Lehigh tough, but the Mountain Hawks held an edge in shots (11-7) and corner kicks (5-3). Hurley kept Adelphi in the game, making four saves, while Jim Morahan made two saves for Lehigh.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 14 when they Farmville, Virginia to take on Atlantic Soccer Conference opponent Longwood.
