The Adelphi University women's soccer team fell to West Chester 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The #7 ranked Golden Rams remain perfect at 7-0 while the Panthers drop to 2-2-1 on the season.
West Chester's Julie Katcher scored what would prove to be the game winner in the 34th minute of play. The Panthers managed just four shots on goal in the contest, compared to 13 for the Golden Rams.
Sophomore goalkeeper Christine Conway (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) kept Adelphi in the contest by making 12 stops in the contest. Hilary Smart collected the shutout for WCU with four saves.
This is the first shutout Adelphi has suffered in 18 consecutive games. The last time the Panthers remained scoreless was a 3-0 loss to Southampton College on October 12, 2004. However the squad rallied back to advanced to the NCAA DII Championships.
Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, September 21, traveling to Rockville Centre to face Molloy College in conference action beginning at 4:00 p.m.
