Women's Soccer Shut Out at Southampton, 3-0

Southampton, N.Y. - The #4 Lady Colonials defeated the #25 Adelphi University Panthers 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon. Today's loss marked the first for Adelphi (9-3, 6-2 NYCAC) versus Southampton (12-0-1, 7-0 NYCAC) since 1995.

The game remained tied at zero through much of the first half. Adelphi senior Josephine Coiro had a chance on goal off a penalty kick at 23:45 but was stopped by junior goalkeeper Corinne Morgan.

Senior Paivi Kivisto opened up the scoring for the Lady Colonials off a pass from junior Denise Domena in the 33rd minute. Domena then struck herself taking a pass from senior Annelie Andersson and finding the back of the net at 36:36. The duo of Domena and Andersson struck again in the 48th minute for the games final goal and a 3-0 lead. Morgan finished the game with seven saves and collected her fifth consecutive shutout and her ninth shutout of the year.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, hosting Shippensburg University in a non-conference match up at 2:00 p.m. at Stiles Field.
