Garden City, N.Y. - The No. 7 Adelphi University women's soccer team won its fifth straight contest with a 4-0 shutout over Lock Haven University, Saturday afternoon at Stiles Field. The Panthers improve to 5-1-1 overall, while the Lady Eagles drop to 3-6-1.

Adelphi opened up the scoring early in the first half as junior Josephine Coiro (West Babylon, N.Y.) collected her fifth goal of the season on a cross from senior Jennifer Garone (West Hempstead, N.Y.) in just the third minute of play. Senior Lena Dunning (Albuquerque, NM) scored three minutes later, chipping the ball past LHU's Brandi Kessler from five yards out. The Panthers went into the half with a 2-0 advantage.

Adelphi continued to dominate throughout the second half. Senior Luciana Pace (Bellmore, N.Y.) scored in the 52nd minute on a 15-yarder which sailed over the head of the LHU goalie into the left corner. At 65:41, sophomore Jessica Marra notched her first goal of the season, and the final goal of the day, as her shot from the top of the box found the upper right corner of the net.

The Lady Eagles had the best opportunity on goal late in the second half in the 84th minute. Danielle Smith shot the direct kick for LHU which was stopped by senior Andrea Fasano (Syosset, N.Y.), one of three saves in the game. Kessler had one save for Lock Haven.

Adelphi returns to conference action this Wednesday, October 1, traveling to Mercy College. Kick off is at 4:00 p.m.
