The #5 ranked Adelphi Panthers extended their win streak to 14 games yesterday with a 3-0 shut out of West Chester University. Josephine Coiro and Luciana Pace continued their strong play for the Panthers, Coir had two goals and Pace collected one. With the win Adelphi improves to 14-1-1 overall, while West Chester drops to 10-4-3 with the loss.
Adelphi and West Chester entered half time dead-locked at zero; neither team was able to hold momentum. Adelphi came out strong in the second half and scored three goals in a span of 15 minutes. Coiro opened the scoring in the 60th minute to give the Panthers the lead. Pace added onto the lead just over 11 minutes later. Then Coiro closed out the scoring in the 75th minute to put the game out of reach.
The Panthers defense played tough and did not allow a shot on goal, while Adelphi out shot West Chester 12-2 in the game. With her two goals Coiro moves into a tie on the all-time points list with a total of 119 points to date. Andrea Fasano picked up her 11th shut out of the season and her tenth shut out in a row.
Adelphi returns to action Saturday, November 1st when they play host to New Haven at 1 pm in a NYCAC match-up.
