Lauritano was an outstanding baseball player for the Panthers, leading the team to three conference championships during his career. During his senior year, he compiled a .421 batting average with 13 home runs, 15 stolen bases and 56 runs batted in. The slugging outfielder earned First Team All-America honors in 1982, as well as All-New York State, All-Northeast Region and all-conference accolades. He collected 21 multiple hit games as a senior, including one six-hit performance. In 1981, Lauritano was a key player for Adelphi’s 35-win squad, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament and led the nation in hitting with a NCAA record .380 average.
