In his six-year stint as head coach of the Adelphi men’s basketball team, Marv Kessler’s amassed a record of 88-60.  During that time, his teams qualified for four post-season tournaments, including three Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships and the 1977-78 NCAA Division II Regional.
 
Upon leaving Adelphi, Kessler coached at Davidson College (1979-81); then from 1983-86, he began his association with the NBA as an advanced professional scout for the Detroit Pistons. Following his stint with Detroit, Kessler joined the Washington Bullets in the same capacity for one season.  After a brief stay as head coach of Hapoel Holon of the Israeli Professional League, he returned to the NBA in the early 1990’s working with the Portland Trailblazers and the Sacramento Kings as a college and advanced professional Scout.
 
Kessler received a B.S. degree in physical education from North Carolina State (‘58), where he was a member of the basketball team  for three years, and then earned a master’s degree in physical education from Columbia University (’60).
