James Chestnut was selected for the Adelphi Athletic Hall of Fame in 1976. Chestnut was a standout athlete while at Adelphi and participated in eight different events on the track and was named as one of the most versatile track athletes in America in a 1964 Newsday article.
Chestnut went on to coach and teach at Roosevelt High School and would later receive his MBA from Adelphi in 1968. He would also work for IBM as a salesman and was one of the top-20 IBM salesman in the world and rose to the position of Sales Director for the New York District.
