McCrae led the Panthers to their fourth NCAA regional berth, becoming the school’s all-time scoring leader in the process.

In his first season, he led the Panthers in scoring (12.9 ppg) and assists (7.69 pg).  His mark of 200 assists lasted as the leading single season mark for almost 20 years.  As a sophomore, he averaged 17.5 points per game and played a big role in Adelphi’s 19-5 record.  The 1977-78 team returned to the NCAA Tournament, helped by McCrae’s 16.2 points per game average.  He was named a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District selection.

Senior year provided to be the best statistical year for McCrae at Adelph, as he scored at a clip of 21.1 points per game, which is still in the top-10 on the single-season list.  In addition, he set what was then the school’s scoring record with 1,711 points, a mark which stood for 12 years.   That season, he was a NABC All-District selection for the second time. He finished his career as a three-time team MVP.

McCrae graduated in 1979 with a BA in business.  He is the school’s second all-time leading scorer and is also second in career field goals.  He is in the top-10 in single season points, field goals and assists.
