Mansfield, Mass. - Freshman
Jack Laffey of the Adelphi University men's basketball team has been named this week's Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week after his performance in two games last week.
Laffey averaged 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 52.9 percent from the field that included 50.0 shooting from beyond the arc in a 1-1 week for Adelphi (17-5/9-5 NE-10). The freshman shot 5-for-8 from the field towards 14 points in Saturday's win against Assumption.
Adelphi returns to the road for two games this upcoming week. The Brown and Gold first travel to face Pace at the Civic Center Gym in Manhattan on Wednesday at 7:30 pm followed by a Saturday trip to New Haven, Connecticut to face Southern Connecticut State at 3:30 pm.
Notes:- This is the second time a Panther has earned NE-10 Rookie of the Week this season after
Tavon Ginyard was honored on January 4th.
- Adelphi is four wins away from matching the win total from the 2011-12 season, the last time the Brown and Gold reached the NCAA Tournament.
- The Panthers are currently in second place of the Southwest Division in the NE-10 with a 9-5 league record.
