Mineola, N.Y. - After raising $1,204 at the team's annual Fall Charity Game, the Adelphi University baseball team recently visited the Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK) at Winthrop-University Hospital to donate the proceeds from the annual game.

Back on Saturday, October 11, the Panthers hosted Felician College for their annual charity game in which Head Coach Dom Scala and the rest of the team raises money for a specific charity. This year, Scala selected the CCFK as the recipient of this year's proceeds and in addition, take a trip to the CCFK recently with several members of the team.

"I wanted our players to go visit the Cancer Center and the kids for the holiday season," said Scala. "I want them to understand the value in giving back in life and how lucky they are that they can play the game of baseball. Ashley Carlo was very informative of what the center accomplishes and is still trying to achieve. Their goal is to ahve the kids and their families to feel as normal as possible. I am honored that we were able to do our part for them."

"Children and their families can't fight cancer alone," stated Mark E. Weinblatt, MD, the Director of CCFK. "The CCFK offers patients the best possible chance for recovery and cure - and unconditional support for them and their families."

The donation by the baseball team helps support the Center's psychosocial programs and services, helping to make "a difference in the lives of the children each and every day."
