Jackson, Kitrys Earn First Team All-Met Status

New York, NY – As announced by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, two Adelphi University women's basketball players have earned All-Met First Team Honors. This is the first All-Met honor for senior guard Sade Jackson and Jessica Kitrys's second All-Met nod.

A 5-8 senior from Hackensack, New Jersey, Jackson averaged 14.3 ppg and 8.1 apg to land her on the Northeast-10 All-conference first team and now the All-Met First Team. She led the NE-10 and all of Division II in assists per game and was third in the conference in double-doubles (12). The guard was averaging 2.2 steals per game and 6.0 rebounds per game at the conclusion of the program's best season since 2001. She joined the 1,000 point club on January 25, in a 69-74 loss to Merrimack College.

A 6-2 senior from Parlin, New Jersey, Kitrys averaged 19.8 ppg and 7.1 rebounds per game, while posting a .581 field-goal percentage. The four-year starter for Adelphi became the program's all-time leading scorer in an 87-50 victory over Pace University on February 22, surpassing Margaret Pape (1981-1984) who held the record with 1,590. She ranked first in the conference in field goal percentage (58%) and points per game (19.8), ranking 8th and 26th in Division II, respectively.

Deirdre Moore of LIU Post was named Coach of the Year. The rest of the All Met First Team: K.C. Jentzen, Dominican; Madison Rowland, Queens; Chelsea Williams, LIU Post. The Second Team: Alexis Peters, LIU Post; Trina Plummer, Felician; Dina Ragab, NYIT; MacKenzie Rowland, Queens; Tierra Scott, Bloomfield.

The All Met teams will be honored April 22 at the 81st NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.

A 6-1 senior forward from Lynn, Mass., Anderson averaged 18.4 ppg and 10.5 rpg en route to CACC Player of the Year honors. She led her conference in rebounding and free throws made, was fourth in scoring, fifth in FG% and eighth in blocks, and ranked No. 8 in the nation with 15 double-doubles and 16th in rebounding. Named to the All-Met First Team last year and the Second Team in 2012, she was the only active player this season chalking up more than 1,700 points and 1,000 rebounds for her career.

Also named East Coast Conference Coach of the Year, Moore guided the Pioneers (24-7, second most wins in school annals) to their first ECC regular season title, victory in 16 of their final 17 regular season games and a fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. Post won its first NCAA playoff game since 1983 and advanced to its first-ever Sweet Sixteen berth. An Elmont, NY, native, Moore played at Post (1992-96), was an assistant coach of the Pioneers for 11 years and has been head coach for six seasons.
