New York, N.Y. – On Saturday, April 21, members of both the men's and women's soccer programs donated their time and lent a helping hand at the 2nd Annual Tribeca Film Festival/ NYFEST Soccer Day. Additionally, Head Coach Chris Armas was featured in the popular Celebrity Game.

The NYFEST Soccer Day is part of the lineup of events put on in the neighborhood during Tribeca Film Festival. Members from both the men's and women's soccer teams volunteered their time to aid in the Youth Soccer Showcase which included skill stations for passing, juggling, dribbling, shooting, futsal games, power shot and soccer tennis. Additionally, they helped with the skills competitions that featured the crossbar challenge, freesytle juggling, touch juggling, beat the keeper, passing accuracy and shot power.

Rounding out the day was Celebrity match in which Armas was featured. Other celebrities in attendance included Gina Gershon, Bobby Dekeyser, Marc Consuelos, Marcus Samuelsson and Ndamukong Suh to name a few.

"It was fantastic to be a part of the Tribeca NY Soccer Fest's clinic for City Soccer," said Head Men's Soccer Coach, Carlo Acquista. "The student-athlete's interacted with kids from all over New York City and the outer-borough's. It is always special to give back to the community and the future of soccer in America. I would like to thank the Tribeca Film Festival, Josh Morgan and Claudio Reyna from the Caludio Reyna foundation for allowing us to be a part of the event. We look forward to working with them next year."

“Being a part of the NY Soccerfest at Tribeca's Pier 40 was a very proud moment for me," said Armas.  Seeing Adelphi's men's and women's soccer players conduct themselves at the youth soccer clinic and connect with the inner city boys and girls was inspiring and commendable. I believe that wins and losses will come and go. But it is these meaningful experiences that our student-athletes will remember and the fact that we can give these memories to the young children is priceless.”
