Garden City, N.Y. - On Friday, April 20, the men's soccer team put on a clinic for 20 students in the Mineola School District. Adelphi players demonstrated basic skills and fundamentals of the game such as ball control, passing and shooting.
During the session, the players interacted with the Mineola students and gave hands on instruction on the fundamental skills of soccer including the correct way to kick, pass, dribble and head the ball. Toward the end of the day, the students got to scrimmage with the players on hand.
“It's great that we can reach out to the younger kids and be positive role models,” Head Coach
Carlo Acquista said of the event. “We try to encourage and promote the importance of education through athletics and get young athletes thinking about going college early on.”
