Manchester City and Adelphi Men's Soccer Hosting a Free Clinic on Monday, July 26

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's soccer team will host Manchester City of the English Premier League and 100 of Long Island's best soccer players on Monday, July 26. Manchester City will be giving two free clinics for boys ages 13-17, broken up into two sessions on Motamed Field, boys ages 13-14 will take the field from 9am to 12pm, followed by boys ages 15-17 at 2pm to 5pm.

"We are extremely excited to be affiliated with a club that has been as successful as Manchester City," Head Coach Carlo Acquista stated. "It will be a pleasure to not only have Manchester City, their players and coaches on our field with us, but also to have 100 of Long Island's finest soccer players on campus as well."

Adelphi had a breakout year in 2009, posting an overall record of 13-2-4, capturing both the Atlantic Soccer Conference regular season title and tournament title. Acquista was named ASC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and four Panthers were named All-Region.

Manchester City is coming off of a year that saw them place fifth overall in the premier league, just 16 points out of first place. Manchester City posted a record of 18-7-13 and feature numerous international super stars, such as Patrick Vieira, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Robinho, Carlos Tevez and David Silva.

Manchester City is the heart of the City of Manchester and their fans, players and people are the heart of the football club. It's important that wherever the club is in the world that it reaches out to help the local community. These soccer schools provided the ideal opportunity to allow kids in the United States to connect to the club and to learn more about playing football from the premier league's most successful football coaching academy over the last decade.

Manchester City and Adelphi University are looking for elite boy soccer players ages 13-14 for the first session of the day and ages 15-17 for the second session of the day to attend. Players must be on a club team, and need to pre-register to be able to attend, both clinics are free of charge. Former Manchester City footballer, Alex Williams is a member of the coaching staff for the clinics along with Simon Hewitt, Dave Coppin, Hannah Steele and Alan Dixon.
