East Meadow, N.Y. -
The Adelphi University softball team spent Saturday, September 25, volunteering at the Special Olympics New York Fall Games in East Meadow, New York. This is the second year in a row that the Panthers volunteered and the girls were assigned to different teams and acted as umpires, score keepers and cheerleaders.
"We were a part of a very similar event last year and the team really enjoyed giving back to the community." Head Coach Paige Smith explained. "So when we found out that the Special Olympics runs an event specifically surrounding the sport of softball we were quick to jump at the opportunity to help and be a part of the event."
