The Adelphi men's lacrosse team will play for a good cause on October 7 when they participate in the Stevens Institute of Technology Fall Classic. All proceeds from the fall tournament will be donated to the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund.
The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund was founded in October 2003, as a means of providing college grants and financial assistance to surviving children and spouses of United States military service members who lost their lives in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The financial assistance program also assists disabled service members and their families as well.
In the last two years the grant committee has awarded $84,500 in college grants to children and spouses, and almost $50,000 in financial assistance to families with children under the age of 18.
Individual donations can be made by mailing a check to CFSRF, P.O. Box 3968, Gaithersburg, MD 20885-3968. Online donations can also be made at www.cfsrf.org.
General admission tickets for the event are $5 for general admission and $2 for students.. All proceeds from the day's events will go to support the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund.
Adelphi will play host Stevens Tech at 3:45 pm, followed by a 5:15 pm match-up with Western New England College. All games will be played at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, New Jersey.
