Volleyball Participates in Walk to Benefit Suicide Prevention

Sept. 21, 2006

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi volleyball participated in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) on Sunday, September 17, 2006. The Panthers joined the Peer Counseling Center as part of "Team Adelphi" to raise awareness of mental issues and suicide, raising over $100.

The AFSP is dedicated to funding research, suicide prevention, educational programs, conferences and support networks for survivors of suicide loss, mental health professionals, and the public. The goal of AFSP is to reduce suffering and the loss of life from suicide as well as the broad stigma that surrounds mental illness and suicide.
