Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sent three student-athletes to Franklin Early Childhood Center in Hewlett, N.Y. to help celebrate READ ACROSS AMERICA day on Tuesday, March 2.

Freshman Betty Mendieta (Women's Basketball), Mary Cannata (Women's Soccer/Lacrosse) and junior Ashley Spreer (Softball)each participated in the event.

READ ACROSS AMERICA's purpose is to shine a spotlight on the importance of literacy and reading. Through out the day community readers from all different avenues of life were invited to the school to read to the children in their classrooms.

This is the second straight year that the SAAC group has participated in this event.
