Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sent two members of to the Franklin Early Childhood Center in Hewlett, N.Y. to help celebrate READ ACROSS AMERICA day on March 3.

Freshman Eric Martin, a member of the men's basketball team and junior Jennifer Garone of the women's soccer team participated in the event.

READ ACROSS AMERICA's purpose is to shine a spotlight on the importance of literacy and reading. Through out the day community readers from all different avenues of life were invited to the school to read to the children in their classrooms.

This is the first time the SAAC group has participated in this event and it is sure to become an annual affair.
